“We must all decolonize our minds in Western
culture,” wrote bell hooks (1952~2021), “to be able to think differently about
nature, about the destruction humans cause.” Decolonized x Design examines the meaning and
significance of what Frantz Omar Fanon (1925~1961) described as the “historical
process” of decolonization from Pan-African perspectives throughout the African
Diaspora. Drawing on the “intellectually independent,” structurally competent,
culturally responsive, historically informed, and critically interdisciplinary
tradition of Black Africana Studies (BAS), this course explores the praxis of
decoloniality in various domains of human activity such as education, law,
history, psychology, socioeconomics, politics, ecology, and more. - DR. NKA
