Course Description
Poetry and Gratitude, two of the most powerful forces in human life. Both require awareness and sensitivity to the world inside and around us; both require creative thinking and practice; and both improve our emotional, intellectual, psychological, and physical lives and the lives of others. Pretty good reasons, I think, for learning about, paying attention to, and practicing the arts of poetry and gratefulness. Our practice will be based on a foundation of knowledge of the science and wisdom traditions of gratitude, and we’ll explore gratitude in popular culture. We’ll investigate the craft of poetic storytelling, and from there will craft gratitude poems of our own.
This course provides multiple means of engagement emphasizing multiple pathways to learning, including: virtual synchronous participation; teamwork; authenticity; self-reflection; and educational equity; and multiple means of action and expression emphasizing creative thinking and choice, providing curated, high quality, reliable learning resources and multiple modes of demonstration of mastery, and knowledge-sharing.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

Describe some of the wisdom traditions of gratitude
Use poetic storytelling as a personal gratitude practice
